We are incredibly proud to announce that we received a High Commendation for the Sustainability Impact Award last week!
This event aims to celebrate UCL staff, students and societies that contribute to sustainability at UCL. The UCL Nature and Conservation Society hopes to render UCL a greener and more sustainable place.
A great thank you to all our members and collaborators for their involvement and dedication. With you, we contributed to tree re-planting scheme and pond restoration schemes, promoted biodiversity throughout UCL with our weekly birdwalks and annual Bioblitzes (although not this year...) and talked about incredibly important aspects of conservation and sustainability during our mini-conferences. We also supported multiple sustainable campaigns around campus, and our president, Lucas von Chamier was one of the founding members of the Environmental Collective UCL, grouping all societies and individuals interested in any aspects of climate and environmental change.
Awards like these will hopefully promote future sustainable schemes implemented by students and staff alike. This is a start, but the issues we face are by no means resolved and we must all work together to ensure that our workplaces and study spaces are as sustainable as possible. The path is still long!
